Explain a document in plain English

When a bill, notice, form, or set of instructions is hard to follow, paste its text or add a page image. Explain This helps translate the wording into a short summary, highlights actions and dates stated in the source, and quotes the original passage so you can check the explanation.

What can you use it to understand?

  • Letters and notices: get a clearer summary and see any action the text explicitly requests.
  • Bills and statements: understand the terms and amounts that appear in the text, without assuming why a charge was made.
  • Forms: get plain-language explanations of instructions and unfamiliar wording.
  • Manuals and instructions: turn dense directions into a concise explanation of what the supplied text says.
  • Photos and screenshots: review the extracted words before asking for an explanation.

How the document explainer works

  1. Add the content. Paste text, upload a text-based PDF, or select a clear page image.
  2. Review the text. Check and correct any words extracted from a file before continuing.
  3. Ask for an explanation. See a short summary, source-backed points, stated actions, and anything that remains unclear.

There is no account or document history. Text is sent to the configured AI provider only when you request an explanation. Files and results are not stored by OpenWebStore; provider terms apply.

Frequently asked questions

What kinds of content can Explain This help with?

Paste text or use a clear image of a page. You can ask for help with notices, bills, letters, forms, instructions, and other everyday documents. The tool explains the wording you provide; it does not verify whether a document is authentic.

Can I upload a photo or screenshot?

Yes. Upload one JPEG, PNG, or WebP image. The image is sent to the configured AI provider for text recognition, and you can review and correct the transcription before requesting an explanation. Clear, well-lit, straight-on images work best.

Can I upload a PDF?

You can upload a text-based PDF up to 3 MiB and 100 pages. OpenWebStore extracts selectable text in memory, then shows it for review. The amount of text that can be explained depends on AI-provider capacity. Scanned PDFs are not supported yet; upload a clear page image instead.

Does the explainer store my document?

OpenWebStore does not store the uploaded file or result. PDF text extraction happens on the OpenWebStore server; image text recognition and requested explanations use the configured AI provider. The provider's processing and retention terms apply. Remove personal details you do not want to share.

Does this replace professional advice?

No. It can explain wording and point out explicitly stated actions or dates, but it does not provide legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice. Verify important details with the sender or a qualified professional.
