AI Spreadsheet Analyst
Ask questions about a CSV or Excel workbook, inspect its columns, and get transparent calculations, matching rows, and grouped comparisons. Files and cell values stay in your browser; AI receives only the question and workbook schema to suggest a calculation plan.
Ask questions about spreadsheet data
Use this free AI spreadsheet analyst to explore a CSV or Excel file with questions such as “What was the average order value?” or “Which region had the highest total sales?” It profiles your columns, lets you correct inferred types, and turns supported questions into clear calculations, grouped comparisons, charts, or matching rows.
How the spreadsheet analyst works
Your workbook is read and analyzed in the browser. The AI receives your question, column names and inferred types, row count, and, only if you opt in for a follow-up, a prior calculated summary. It suggests a limited calculation plan; deterministic browser code checks the plan and calculates against the uploaded rows. The workbook and cell values are not sent to the AI provider by this tool.
Supported files and limits
Upload one CSV or modern .xlsx workbook. CSV files have no fixed file-size or row-count cap, but are limited to 200 columns and may use substantial browser memory. For .xlsx, selected workbook XML is limited to 25 MB after extraction, with up to 20,000 data rows, 200 columns, and 500,000 populated cells per sheet. Password-protected and older .xls files are not supported. Formula cells use cached results when available; formulas are not recalculated.
What it cannot tell you
Results describe the supplied data and the listed calculations only. This tool cannot prove causation, forecast future outcomes, verify source data, or answer questions that require information outside the workbook. Review the calculation method and output before using it to make decisions.
